Welcome to Golf Putters, a site dedicated to providing
articles and product reviews relating to golf putters and
putting.
Every serious golfer knows that the putter
accounts for more strokes than any other club in the bag and
that, conversely, improving one’s putting is the best way to
lower scores. However, this is much easier said than done.
In
his book, “Putt Like the Pros”, Dave Pelz tells about how he
spent four hours of dedicated |
putting practice every day for a semester as a
young college golfer because he felt his putting was preventing him from
beating the likes of Jack Nicklaus in college golf events. What was the
result of all this practice? His scoring average that year was
one-tenth of a stoke higher- he actually got worse! As perhaps the top
short game instructor these days for PGA Tour players, Pelz how
emphasizes practice using methods and training aids that provide
immediate feedback about the putting stroke. This makes a lot of sense,
because as he says, “it is very, very difficult to differentiate between
a perfectly executed stroke and an imperfect one”. So you can log a lot
of time on the practice green trying to improve, but if you have
developed poor habits, you are probably just reinforcing those. So it’s
no wonder that many golfers can’t improve their putting much, try as
they may.
Modern
putter designs and technology have made great strides in recent years,
as has been the case with the other clubs in the bag as well, such as
drivers, fairway woods, irons and hybrid golf clubs. Hopefully this
site will offer some help and insights to improve your putting, lower
your golf score, and make the game more enjoyable. PGATOUR.com News
