Nike Putters come in three product lines, the Unitized line, the Black OZ line, and the Ignite line.  These products will be discussed in this article.

Nike Unitized Putters

As the name implies, these putters look like they are made out of one piece of metal.  The neck of the putter head is actually laser welded to the shaft, and then a plating process is applied to give the one-piece appearance.  The point of eliminating normal joints in the putter is to provide better and more accurate feel.

The company points out that normal joints add variations to the resonating frequencies that are created in the putter at impact, whereas the Unitized putters provide feedback to the golfer’s hands that is more accurate.

The Unitized product line consists of clubs with four different putter head styles.  The Tiempo and Retro are blade type styles with heel and toe weighting to increase the moment of inertia, or MOI, which will make the club more forgiving on off-center hits.  The putter heads are made from milled 303 stainless steel.  These clubs are designed to provide excellent feedback to the golfer in terms of feel and sound, and the unitized construction described above is meant to give the golfer a clean look at address. The grip is a special one supplied by Winn grips to provide excellent feel as well.  The Unitized Neo model is a modified mallet style putter.  The Techno, as the name implies, is a mallet style as well, but it has a much more modern look.  It sports lots of perimeter weight redistribution which is done to increase the MOI of the putter.  All these putters come in lengths of 33, 34, or 35 inches, and they are available for both right and left handed golfers.  These clubs are Nike’s top of the line putters, and they have an msrp of $299 each.

Nike Black OZ Putters

The Nike Black OZ T160 is shaped somewhat like a one-ball putter but in a blade style.  That is, it would resemble a mallet head, but a chunk of the putter back has been removed on the heel and toe sides.  The Black OZ T100 is a modified mallet style of putter which has weight distribution around the perimeter of the putter, and it also has a double bend steel shaft.  The Black OZ T130 is called a non-traditional modified mallet putter.  It has a very modern look and design with a lot of perimeter weighting to increase MOI and thus make the putter more forgiving.  All three of the Black OZ putters have an msrp of $169.

Nike Ignite Putters

The Ignite series consists of four different models.  The main characteristic of this series is a full face polymer insert.  This insert improves the feel and feedback of the putters and is substantially lighter than steel.  This means that weight taken out of the face can be redistributed to the heel and toe areas of the clubs to increase MOI.  The Ignite 001 is based on a traditional blade style.  The Ignite 002 is also based on a blade style in general, but it has a different shape and a different look than the Ignite 001.  The Ignite 003 is based on a traditional mallet look and is about the same size as a traditional mallet putter.  The Ignite 004 is also a mallet style but is much more modern looking.  It is a center shafted putter, and the back of the putter is quite large and clearly the weight distribution is meant to increase MOI.  All four of these clubs have an msrp of $109.

Although Nike golf clubs are more renown for their drivers and clubs other than putters, Nike is a serious company and its lines of putters offer excellent choices for golfers.  Several players on the Nike PGA Tour staff are using Nike golf putters on tour, so you can be sure these clubs are top notch.
