Models available are the ever popular Anser, Ally, B60, Mini C, Pal, Piper, Tess, Ug-Le, Zing, and several varieties of the Craz-E, including both standard length clubs and belly and long putters.
G2 Series The G2 series is also a popular line of putters, and all of these are made of stainless steel. There are 20 putters offered in this series. These include the Ally and Ally C, Pal, Piper, Piper C, My Day, Midi C, Remedy, Tess, Zing, ZSB, lil’c, C67, C10, B60, CT, and 4 varieties of Anser. Among these are 2 belly putter models, and two long putters as well.
Udrainium Series These putters are semicircular modernistic mallet putters milled from high grade aluminum. They are designed to have a high moment of inertia (MOI) and low center of gravity (CG). There are 6 models in the lineup including a belly putter and a long putter. The models are Doc 12.5, Doc 15, Doc 15 B, Doc 15 C, Doc 15.5 L, and Doc 17. These putter models look pretty similar, but there are differences in the size of the semicircular back end and the placement of the shaft. They are all available in both left and right handed versions.
Classic Series The Classic Series actually consists of 7 sub-groups of putters. In all there are 115 putters in the Classic Series, so there are many choices available. The 7 sub-groups will be discussed separately.
G2i Models- The G2i line is distinguished by a urethane face insert. This insert offers a soft feel, and the insert cavity is milled. There are 15 putters in this group including several varieties of Anser and Craz-E putters, as well as a number of others. All the putters in this group come in both left and right handed versions.
JAS Models- These putters are characterized by a combination of titanium steel and tungsten. The tungsten is heavier than titanium and weights are placed into the heel and toe sections of the putters. This weight redistribution scheme lowers the CG and increases the MOI of the putter, the result being more solid putts with more forgiveness on off-center hits. There are 5 varieties of putters in the product line, and not all of them are currently available, so golfers interested in these putters need to be sure to check for availability. One gets the feeling that Ping is pushing the new JAS Craz-E One model rather than these older versions.
Stainless Steel- The Stainless Steel Classic product line is extensive to say the least, with 30 putters in the product offering. As the name clearly implies, all these putters are made from stainless steel. They also feature toe and heel weighting to increase MOI and lower the CG of the putters as much as possible for more solid and more forgiving putts. All the putters in this line have a satin finish that protects the clubs from scratches and normal wear and tear effects. Basically all the ping models are available, and these won’t all be repeated here.
Manganese Bronze- The original Ping putters designed and sold by Karsten Solheim were in this mixture of metals. There are 30 putters available, and of course most come in the distinctive bronze metal color that made the early Ping putters famous. The metals provide a soft feel, and all the main Ping models can be found in the Manganese Bronze product line. Once again, there is no need to repeat all the names here, but different flavors of Ansers, Zings, and other Ping models are present.
Iso Force- This line is distinguished by a face insert that consists of 50 hexagonal pixels. The body is made of a cast manganese bronze alloy with an antique bronze finish that is dark. The Iso Force putters have high grade aluminum pixels in the insert, and the Iso Force 2 putters have copper pixels. A dozen putters make up the product line, once again in the most common Ping styles.
Isopur- This line of classic putters is characterized by the use of a polyurethane inset. This increases feel, and the weight removed for the inset is redistributed around the perimeter of the clubs for better performance as described above. There are 23 varieties in this product line, so the offering is extensive.
Specify- The Specify line is a sort of semi-custom option for golfers. Essentially 3 models can be mixed and matched with 4 types of putter faces and hosels. This gives 36 separate options in all. The faces and backs are attached by two screws and an adhesive for a permanent bond. The backs of the putters are black and contrast to the stainless steel front portions to offer an interesting contrast which is said to help aid alignment of the putters. The Ping putter product lines described above, coupled with the other putters in the entire Ping family, offer more than 200 putter options for golfers. This is undoubtedly the most extensive product line of putters in the golf industry. |
